Hi, I’m Rabbi Asher Sofman, the inaugural Justice, Equity, Diversity and Inclusion program coordinator at Reconstructing Judaism. I’m excited to share the work we are doing to co-create communities where people of all abilities can participate fully and meaningfully in Jewish life.
Since 2009, a growing number of Jewish congregations and havurot have marked February as Jewish Disability Awareness, Acceptance, and Inclusion Month (JDAIM). This year, Reconstructing Judaism celebrates how Reconstructionists make Jewish community more accessible to and inclusive of those of us with disabilities.
Join us every day of February (excluding Saturday) on our social media pages, where we’ll showcase how Reconstructionist communities are working to create more inclusive and accessible spaces for everyone. We invite you to follow our campaign as we honor one another’s fullness and passion for justice, learn new ways to break down the barriers between us and strengthen our commitment to a more equitable and accessible, boldly relevant Judaism.
Be sure to check out our new Disability and Accessibility page on ReconstructingJudaism.org, where you’ll find resources such as:
Together, we're making our communities even more inclusive, spiritually nourishing and embracing.
